LOUDER NOW! Feminism on Film takes place this Wednesday, 29 February, at The Star and Shadow Cinema, Newcastle upon Tyne, 7pm.

The night will see a special screening of SUMMER SCHOOL to spark a discussion on what feminism is today and its future.

In the summer of 2010, while the media was buzzing about the 'return of feminism', an activist training conference was held in Central London by UK Feminista. Inexperienced activists of all ages and backgrounds attended. When it seems like the rest of the world has got it all wrong, this documentary follows young feminists looking for a few lessons in how to make things right.

The film will be introduced by Marcie MacLellan (Summer School's director/producer), and accompanied by an open discussion led by Marcie, Dr Carolyn Pedwell (GRG, Newcastle University), and Dr Kate Chedgzoy (GRG, Newcastle University). After the panel discussion, conversations can continue into the evening in the Star and Shadow bar.

FREE (£1 annual membership of the Star and Shadow required) Presented by The Gender Research Group, Newcastle University, as our contribution to the University's Social Renewal Theme.

LOUDER NOW! is a monthly screening of films of a feminist nature at The Star and Shadow Cinema, presented by The Gender Research Group at Newcastle University.  It is intended that these films will enlighten, provoke and spark discussion, build networks, and perhaps inspire action.  Each film will showcase a different aspect of feminist thought and politics, be introduced by a specialist and post-film discussion will be encouraged.  LOUDER NOW! promotes an open atmosphere where every opinion, thought and feeling will be respected.
